LSAC Sues California: What the Lawsuit Could Mean For You
The LSAC has been at the receiving end of quite a bit of process over the past few years. Lawsuits filed against them under the American’s with Disabilities Act for discriminatory practices (both in denying LSAT test takers accommodations, and in flagging LSAT scores received with accommodated LSAT testing) seem to be on the upswing. Even the Justice Department has intervened.
So it’s refreshing to see LSAC take the offensive and file a lawsuit itself.
Governor Gerry Brown signed Assembly Bill 2122 into law on September 26, 2012, specifically targeting the LSAC/LSAT. They are no longer allowed to “flag” LSAT scores – essentially, an asterisk that allows law schools to tell who received accommodations when taking the LSAT.

Top Law School Stories of 2012 (With a Look Ahead to 2013)
It has been a tumultuous year in the wide world of law school news: suits filed, requirements imposed, tuitions raised, and accreditation denied. To put it simply, that’s a lot of stuff. Here are some of the top law school stories of 2012:
Top Law School Story of 2012 I: No Overseas Accreditation
The ABA denied accreditation to schools outside of the United States. You could say “boo-hoo” for those foreign lawyers seeking to practice in the U.S. or you could thank the ABA for protecting your legal education and shrinking the legal labor pool in this country. Think about it. Would you rather compete with a bunch of people paying the same as you for the same education or a bunch of people paying way less for the same education and status (and thus willing to accept lower initial pay).

Halloween Horror: LSAC Not Releasing LSAT Scores Today
Hurricane Sandy might be gone, but its effects are certainly still being felt. We in New York City are still learning how to live without the subway and reliable internet and microwave ovens, which isn’t really living at all. But it’s not just the east coast that’s getting screwed by mother nature.
It’s even affected the LSAT.
LSAC’s Newtown, Pennsylvania, headquarters were apparently squarely in the path of Sandy, putting the Council out of work since Monday. LSAC says it plans to open back up tomorrow.
What does this mean for you? Well, it means you’re going to have to wait even longer for your October LSAT score.

Sandy Shuts Down LSAC’s Offices For a Second Straight Day
If you tried accessing LSAC’s website for the past 24 hours or so, you likely had very little luck (it’s back now). Contrary to the hopes and dreams of many LSAT prep students, it had nothing to do with the release of October LSAT scores. No, this is the work of Hurricane Sandy.
The superstorm has killed at least 18 people on the eastern seaboard and left millions without power. New York City is one of the numerous areas devastated by flooding.
Sandy has also wreaked havoc in the LSAT world, forcing LSAC to close its Philadelphia-area offices yesterday and today and, as mentioned before, temporarily shutting down LSAC’s website. Numerous people have been unable to register for the December LSAT, which saw its early registration deadline pass yesterday. The late registration deadline for the December LSAT is November 9.

LSAC: All LSATs Will Now Feature Two Pages for Logic Games
As June LSAT test-takers may recall, the latest LSAT administration by the Law School Admissions Council featured, for the first time ever, two pages for Analytical Reasoning.
Turns out, it wasn’t an accident.
LSAC Director of Communications Wendy Margolis confirmed today through email that all future administrations of the LSAT would henceforth feature two pages for logic games.
Although this isn’t the kind of news story that will open The Situation Room, in the world of LSAT this is quite significant. Aside from higher printing costs for LSAC, it means you’ll have more room on logic games on LSAT test day to take notes/write out diagrams/doodle LSAT proctors with unibrows and devil horns. It also shows that with enough protest, LSAT test-takers can persuade LSAC to change its ways.

Objection! The Top Three Silliest Lawsuits of 2011
Enough with the all too serious LSAT and law school advice of the past month. It’s time to strap in for some funny. And nothing says “holiday cheer” like a good ol’ frivolous lawsuit . . . or three. The depths to which people are willing to stoop in the name of entitlement never ceases to amaze, or appall. And with that, I give you three of the most frivolous lawsuits of 2011.
1. Man Sues Health Club for Substandard Complimentary Breakfast
Enter Richard Katz, Esq. That’s right — lawyers abuse the legal system in the names of themselves as well as their clients. Mr. Katz purchased a membership at a very, very expensive health club with the promise of free breakfast (in addition to gold-plated barbells and locker room butlers).

Blueprint Adds Six New Cities for LSAT Prep
Here we go again.
As you might recall, Blueprint LSAT Preparation recently spread its LSAT love by opening classes in Austin, Boston, Philadelphia, Phoenix and Washington DC. It was a big step forward in bringing LSAT enlightenment to the writhing mass of pre-law humanity, and it went so well we decided to do it again.
Starting this spring, just in time for the June 2012 LSAT, Blueprint will open the doors to live courses in (drumroll, please) Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Miami and Seattle. Sorry, Antarctica. We’ll get you next time.

Shiny New Withdrawal Policy for the LSAT
For all of you who have been drawing fat red X’s on your unicorn-themed calendars, crying deep, silent sobs into your throw pillows, and worrying, always worrying that you won’t be ready for the LSAT on D-Day…good news! At some point in the last couple of weeks, LSAC changed its withdrawal policy for the LSAT, meaning that you can now wait until the day before the LSAT to decide whether or not to take the test.
The big thing about this policy is that if you choose to withdraw up to the day before the LSAT, nothing will show up on your record.
