New Study Shows College Students Academically Adrift
As bright-eyed eighteen year-olds, we pack up boxes of our clothes and other possessions, load it into our wood paneled hatchback station wagons, wave goodbye to ma’ and pa’, and head off to college. Once we get there, we expand our minds and learn to think critically, while we kick the hacky sack around and discuss Immanuel Kant. Right? Apparently, college students as a whole essentially learn how to cook Ramen Noodles (delicious) and learn how to make $400 last for an entire month (not a bad skill).
This is according to a widespread and thorough study that showed forty-five percent of students “demonstrated no significant gains in critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and written communications during the first two years of college.”
Blueprint LSAT Prep is Coming to a City Near You
Depending on what city you’re in. Yes, the time has come that we shuffled off the cocoon of California and New York and spread our wings as a beautiful, LSAT-teaching butterfly. Beginning this coming spring, Blueprint will be opening up live classes in five new locations: Boston, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., Austin, and Phoenix. Of course, we won’t neglect our California or New York locations, but the time has come to bring the gospel of Blueprint to the entire country.
What this means for you: if you’re located in any of these cities, or anywhere near any of these cities, you have another live option for your LSAT education. We have our spring schedules up on the Blueprint site, and students are welcome to sign up now to ensure they get a spot in the classes.

Our Fallacious World: California’s Proposition 23
When studying for the LSAT it’s easy to think fallacies are akin to other formal definitions and procedures we learn in college; important for a narrowly specified purpose in the short term, but otherwise largely irrelevant to our lives.
At Blueprint, our view is different. We think fallacious reasoning exists outside of the rarified world of the LSAT and that, at times, it can rear its ugly head and infect even the most level-headed of us.
Various circumstances encourage poor reasoning, but chief among these are politics and religion. Our etiquette conveniently holds that we shouldn’t talk about such things so that we publicly justify our inchoate intuitions about the existence of god or the wisdom of universal health care.

October 2010 LSAT Scores Coming Out…Sometime
Update 5:50 P.M.: LSAT scores have been released. Will update you with curve info as soon as we have some idea.
So, it’s Friday. As I’m writing this, it’s 11:07 AM. I’ve just had a bowl of cereal (some knockoff cereal with flakes and strawberries). October 2010 LSAT scores are not out, at least as far as we can tell. There’s still a fairly good chance they come out today, but as you’re waiting, slide on over to the all-new discussion board. We’ll have instructors there who can provide some expertise and console you as those three little numbers start to roll in. If scores get released today, we’ll have a little analysis of the curve and what it all means for you. Anyway, good luck!

Cheaters Never, Or at Least Rarely, Prosper, Even on the LSAT
I’ve had at least three people ask me via twitter if someone from Blueprint can take the LSAT for them. I generally respond with a “only if you can amputate your forefinger” but I’m a little worried that they’re serious enough that I might end up with a Van Gogh situation. Anyway, apparently this week a harried LSAT student posted an ad on Craigslist asking for someone to take the LSAT for him. Above the Law has a screenshot of the ad and their own commentary, which I recommend checking out.

Blueprint: The Movie 2.0. This Time, It’s Animated.
In life, there ever-so-rarely comes an idea so rich in innovation and splendor that your only recourse is to share it with countless thousands of people so that they, too, can reap the benefits. An idea so ineffable that to even describe its quality would be akin to taking the entire ocean into your cupped hands. An idea so simply fantastic that the only thought running through the minds of those who hear of it is “why didn’t I think of that?”

Why Darrelle Revis of the New York Jets is a Champion of Virtue
First, some nuts and bolts:
Darrelle Revis is a cornerback for the New York Jets. But not just any cornerback. Revis is, by most standards, the best cornerback in the NFL. He guards the opposing team’s best receivers and, more often than not, shuts them down. He’s the best at what he does.
Revis, 25, is currently holding out on his contract, meaning that he is not participating in training camp until the New York Jets give him more money. He is currently getting paid about $5 million a year, which is a very large amount and more than you or I can realistically hope to ever get paid. If the Jets do not give him a new contract, he is threatening to sit out the season.
