The LSAT Prep Adventures of Cecilia Tsoukalos: Over and Out

If you took the June LSAT you’ve no doubt had a few days to reflect and realize that you’re done prepping. No more reading comp passages about Thurgood Marshall and no more games where you have to set the lineup for a crazy-cool harmonica concert. As good ole Warren Harding might say, we now find ourselves returning to normalcy. Who am I kidding; kids who want to go to law school aren’t really that normal anyway.
The day we all had marked on our calendar for the past 2-3 months has come and gone.

The LSAT Prep Adventures of Cecilia Tsoukalos: Zombie Land
The only things in life that are certain are death and taxes… and the June LSAT… and the inevitable downfall of Lindsey Lohan’s career. As you well know, or should well know by this point, the LSAT is less than two weeks away. By now you should be figuring out exactly what areas you need to crunch down on before LSAT test day. This is the time to be honing on the skills that you’ve been putting off mastering. I’ll be spending my weekend on a date with diagramming. But it won’t be a date that you want to go on. It’ll be one of those dates where a friend you don’t know very well sets you up with a guy who chews with his mouth open and constantly talks about his mom. It will be ugly.
We’re so close to LSAT test day that it’s a good idea to spend some time thinking about what you’d like to do once the LSAT comes and goes.

The LSAT Prep Adventures of Cecilia Tsoukalos: Time Out
Y’all ever seen that movie where Brad Pitt plays a soap salesman operating a terrorist cell from the basement of a dilapidated house? As much as I’ll always love Fight Club, Tyler Durden was wrong when he said you are not a unique and beautiful snowflake. Surprise: in the LSAT world you really are! As you’ve made your way through the course it’s likely that you’ve started to figure out which question types you’re consistently performing better on.
If you have your schedule organized to the second and your shoes are arranged by shoelace length, chances are you find ordering games pretty self-explanatory. If you pay attention to minute details and remember when the girl sitting next to you last wore the same outfit, you’re probably owning the Reading Comp section.

The LSAT Prep Adventures of Cecilia Tsoukalos: That’s a Rap
The countdown continues, as we are less than 40 days away from the June LSAT. How are you feeling? Anxious? Stressed? Shock and awe? Most likely it’s a combo. But you shouldn’t be worried if you aren’t scoring a 170+ yet. All in good time, y’all.
I experienced my first ever LSAT dream the other night. I won’t go into to too many details, but it involved sharing a testing room with Snoop Dogg. In actuality my testing location will be in Inglewood, so it would have been more accurate had Tupac been in my dream, but I can’t get too technical with my subconscious. Snoop Dogg was sitting next to me and I kept asking him if he knew which section of the LSAT was the experimental. I would have rather dreamt of ponies, or James Franco, but instead I got the LSAT. If the LSAT is constantly on your brain/in your dreams, you’re probably doing something right.

We meet again, fellow LSAT prep students. As most LSAT classes are well underway (those of you in our expansion locations are a bit behind the rest of us) you may notice that we’ve moved on from book one, the dinosaur era, and are wading through bubbling lava in book two. And it only took two weeks. If anyone else is shocked at how fast it went, let’s start a club. Just know that I get to be club president because it’s my blog post, excuse my totalitarianism.

Greetings, fellow LSAT students! I’ll be writing to you every so often documenting my time spent preparing for the June LSAT.
As many of you will surely agree, it’s difficult trying to juggle real life and preparation for a test that can potentially determine the course for the rest of your life. As a Blueprint staff member it’s part of my job to guide students through the LSAT process and help them understand that the LSAT is totally learnable. The LSAT is about how you think, not what you know.

Studying with Victoria: October 2010 LSAT Recap
We did it, guys!! The weight has been lifted and we are free! Months and months of logic games, logical reasoning, and reading comprehension passages finally paid off for about four hours. It’s all over and you’ll never have to answer questions about the author’s attitude towards dark matter, Canadian legal developments, or Native American basket weaving again. Unless you have some sick addiction to the LSAT or something and you need a fix like some logic junkie.
My plan to not actually remember taking the test didn’t pan out, so I guess I owe the LSAT a big “Thanks for the memories!” The other upside is that you, dear reader, get to read about my crazy, gut-wrenching, triumphant day.

Studying with Victoria: Two Days Until the October LSAT
Well guys, this is it. It’s been quite the ride with you, but now the countdown begins in earnest. We’re a couple of days away from the October LSAT, which is A) exciting B) terrifying C) meh D) HELL YEAH or E) all of the above. I’m spending most of my time down there in option E where I’m either gung-ho, going in with both guns blazing or wishing I could click my heels and it would be June again. But not June in Kansas, because I’ve been there and done that and it wasn’t my cup of tea.
All of that said, I know I’m going to walk into the test with my head held high knowing that I did everything humanly possible to prepare. The rest is up to my ability to focus and maybe a little luck. But more importantly, I’m going to walk into the test and have fun with it. Logic games have become fun. Reading comprehension makes me smirk when I’ve read a similar article outside of the LSAT and when I can find typos. Logical reasoning can be downright hilarious when I realize just how bad the argument really is.

Studying with Victoria: Speeding Toward the LSAT
I swear the Universe goes to warp speed whenever I’m not looking. I wake up on Monday morning and the next thing I know, it’s Friday. This past week was especially crazy. First, there was a German essay and a train-wrecked German test. The test might have been made of fail, but at least my grand plan of including zombies in just about everything I write for that class is still on track!
Then my printer gave out with some particularly loud death throes and then I couldn’t print out the materials I needed to give to a professor who is writing me letters of recommendation. But not to worry. The LSAC website decided that repeatedly kicking me off was more worthwhile than actually giving me the documents I needed.

Studying with Victoria: Counting down to the October LSAT
I don’t know about the rest of you, but I’m trying to avoid looking at anything that has the date on it. Sometimes this is problematic, like when I’m trying to write the date on my notes and I can’t remember what it is. October 9th is coming up a little too fast for my tortoise-like preferences and I’m caught between wanting it to be test day already so I can just get the darn thing out of the way (like ripping off a band-aid) and trying to come up with scenarios in which I steal the TARDIS and/or Hermione Granger’s time-turner. Apparently the only time machines I can think of are British. If my life were an internet meme, it would look like an adorable puppy with sad eyes and a caption written in Impact font reading “PLZ CAN I HAS MOAR STUDY TIME?!!1!”
