Update: Blueprint LSAT Prep Movie Quotes Contest Change
Consider this the sequel to Monday’s LSAT blog post. Or at least, its gritty reboot.
Over on the Blueprint LSAT Prep Facebook page, we are running a new contest that involves posting a quote from a law-related film and having our followers guess which movie it’s from. Originally, we gave away a $50 discount off a summer Blueprint online LSAT course or $100 off our summer live LSAT class to the first person to comment with the correct answer. After some thought, we’ve decided to open things up to give more people a chance to win. Here’s the update:
After we post the quote on the Blueprint LSAT Prep Facebook page, followers will have a set amount of time to comment with the movie title.

The February LSAT is only a week-and-a-half away, so if you’re not quite ready for it yet, your next option is the June LSAT. Yes, January isn’t even over yet, and we’re already thinking about the summer. It’s what we do. Plus, some of us have Coachella tickets.
The June LSAT is four-and-a-half months away, and you have until May 17 to register for it. However, the start date of your June LSAT prep should begin long before. Lucky for you, Blueprint LSAT Prep’s spring LSAT courses are open for enrollment right now.
Starting in a few months, Blueprint will be offering 27 spring LSAT classes in 24 locations across the country. Most begin in early April. Some start in March. All of them feature world-class instruction and 112 hours of the most advanced LSAT prep curriculum you can find.

Good News: Blueprint LSAT Prep’s Referral Program is Back
Has the arrival of NFL Sundays immeasurably improved anyone else’s mood? It did mine, and I expect it did for all football fans, even if you started Matthew Stafford over Robert Griffin III in fantasy (good one, dummy).
If you’re not a football fan, however, here’s something else that should get you excited: Blueprint LSAT Prep’s referral program is back. We gave away Gatorade buckets of discounts for our summer LSAT classroom course, and we’re ready to do it again for the fall.
How’s it work? Let’s huddle up:
If you’ve taken a Blueprint LSAT Prep course (in-class) and refer someone else who signs up for our 2012 fall LSAT prep course (again, in-class only), you’ll receive $200 and the person who enrolls will get a $100 discount off his or her LSAT course.

The LSAT Prep Adventures of Cecilia Tsoukalos: Time Out
Y’all ever seen that movie where Brad Pitt plays a soap salesman operating a terrorist cell from the basement of a dilapidated house? As much as I’ll always love Fight Club, Tyler Durden was wrong when he said you are not a unique and beautiful snowflake. Surprise: in the LSAT world you really are! As you’ve made your way through the course it’s likely that you’ve started to figure out which question types you’re consistently performing better on.
If you have your schedule organized to the second and your shoes are arranged by shoelace length, chances are you find ordering games pretty self-explanatory. If you pay attention to minute details and remember when the girl sitting next to you last wore the same outfit, you’re probably owning the Reading Comp section.

Do Your Part During LSAT Prep to Help Out the Planet
Yesterday was the 33rd annual Earth Day. Few ever consider the environmental costs of studying for and taking the LSAT: paper use, getting to and from LSAT class, increased electricity use from late night studying, etc. If you’re preparing for the June LSAT, here are some ways you can do your part to help out:
EARTH-FRIENDLY LSAT PREP TIP #1: Stop Bathing
Let’s face it: you’re barely leaving the house anyway. Why not take advantage and conserve water? You may well be able to save over 1,200 gallons between now and the June LSAT by forgoing showers. As an added bonus, when you take the June LSAT, your stench may depress the performance of the LSAT test takers around you, making for an easier curve and improving your LSAT score.*

What to Expect Out of Your LSAT Prep Class (No Foolin’)
Many of our Blueprint LSAT classes just started, or will be starting very soon. Taking an LSAT course is an important event in every growing pre-law student’s life, and people often don’t know what to expect. Will it be hard? Is there homework? Will there be snacks? Well, let me tell you.
Your LSAT class will start with an LSAT practice test, which you’ve probably already taken. It’s very important that you start your studies with an actual LSAT in this way. Doing this is a good way to acquaint yourself with the beast before you learn how to conquer it. And it’ll be fun!
April Fool’s. It’s actually going to be sort of horrible. The LSAT’s a hard test, and diving in not knowing what you’re doing will be memorable, to say the least.

LSAT Reading Comp Book Club I: The Introduction
Dan McCarthy is a veteran Blueprint LSAT Prep instructor who scored a 180 on his LSAT. This is the first installment of his multi-week guest series on the reading comprehension section of the LSAT.
One of the myths about the LSAT is that it’s impossible to improve your score on reading comprehension. That’s just not true. I’ve seen many students dramatically improve their reading comp performance, just as with every other section of the test. You just need some hard work and the right techniques.
That said, every myth is based on some form of truth. A significant part of what the LSAT tests in reading comp is your ability to, you know, read. And that’s something that’s built up over the long term.
