Heed Caution When Scouring Law School Discussion Boards
Like most Blueprint LSAT Prep instructors, I did not originally sign up for the LSAT just for kicks or because I have a deep love of standardized testing. When I enrolled in my own Blueprint LSAT Prep class, I intended to apply to law school that fall.
In a turn of events that my students find appalling, I ended up getting a 178 LSAT score after taking a Blueprint LSAT Prep course — but decided not to apply to law school after all. But I’m not writing this post to brag about my LSAT score (or not primarily for that reason, anyway). Instead, having once been in your shoes, I want to discuss an ailment that afflicts some people who are applying to law school.
Let’s call it “forum frenzy.”
Perhaps you’ll recognize the symptoms.

LSAC Adds Abstract Reasoning (Math) Section to the LSAT
Well, it had to happen sooner or later. The LSAT is undergoing its first really major change since 1991. LSAC just announced that starting on the June LSAT, it’ll be adding an Abstract Reasoning section to the test.
Also known as math.
This sucks. We know. A lot of people will be complaining that math has nothing to do with law school (but some would say the same thing about logic games). LSAC adding math to the LSAT actually isn’t the most terrible thing in the world; after all, you already have a head start, since you studied math for a good twelve or so years of your life. With LSAT Logic Games you were starting from square one.

3 Keys to Avoid Getting Upset by the LSAT
As you might have noticed, the NCAA March Madness tournament is underway — accompanied as usual by lower productivity in offices all across the land (or not?) and lots of illegal gambling. And upsets. While it’s too early to know whether this year will have any memorable Cinderella story, some high seeds have already fallen to their lower-seeded opponents, with consequences reaching millions of brackets.
If you’re taking the LSAT, you, too, need to avoid getting upset. There are lessons to take from these March Madness games.
How to Avoid Getting Upset by the LSAT I: Avoid overconfidence
New Mexico coach Steve Alford complained earlier this season about what he saw as disrespect for the Mountain West Conference, to which his team belongs, in the polls.
