FIND YOUR BASELINEHow MCAT score gains can change your medical school application
Your MCAT score can either open doors to medical school or act as a barrier. Thousands of quality applicants are denied every year based solely on their test scores! But just how much of a difference can a few points make?
The average MCAT score of medical school applicants in 2025 was a 506. However, the average MCAT score of matriculants was a 512. This 6-point difference represents a jump from the 68th percentile all the way up to the 84th. More than double that jump and you’re not talking about a “nice boost.” You’re talking about a score that can change how competitive your application looks.
A difference in your score can make or break your application and your med school dreams. A good MCAT score can even complement a lower GPA to show schools that those low grades don’t define you as an applicant or future medical student.

The Fine Print
Blueprint MCAT Live Online Score 15-point score increase.
Based on a study of 54 students who purchased the Blueprint Live Course between January 7 and October 20, 2021. To be included, students must have taken the Blueprint Diagnostic Exam first, attended at least 75% of live classes, answered a minimum of 1,500 questions, and provided their official AAMC MCAT score. One student was excluded as an anomalous three-sigma outlier to preserve study integrity. Score increase is calculated from each student's Blueprint Diagnostic score to their official AAMC MCAT score. Results were independently verified by Weaver & Tidwell, L.L.P. Individual results will vary. This claim does not apply to other Blueprint products.
Blueprint MCAT Self-Paced 15-point score increase.
Based on an internal study of 596 students who purchased the Blueprint Self-Paced Course in 2022 and met minimum engagement thresholds of completing at least 155 modules and answering a minimum of 2,500 questions. Score increase is calculated from each student's first Blueprint exam score to their best score on either a Blueprint Full-Length Exam or a self-reported AAMC Practice Exam score entered into the Blueprint LMS. This study does not measure improvement against official AAMC MCAT results. Data was collected from Blueprint's internal learning management system in December 2023 and has not been independently verified. Individual results will vary.
Blueprint MCAT Diagnostic Score Study
Based on an internal study of 204 students who self-reported an official AAMC MCAT score and completed the Blueprint Diagnostic Exam. The average difference between Diagnostic and official scores was −1.54 points (p=0.003; Cohen’s d=0.21). Individual results varied (SD=7.31). Data collected 2024.
