The Pre-Law Declaration of Independence

BPPlaura-lsat-blog-independence

June LSAT scores have been released, which means that many people who plan on applying to law school this fall have just crossed a huge hurdle (congratulations!). Unfortunately, as much as we at Blueprint LSAT Prep wish otherwise, we know that you’re probably still feeling some stress where law school admissions are concerned. That said, it’s a holiday weekend, which is a perfect time to sit back and bask in the glow of what you’ve already accomplished. So, for this Independence Day weekend, here are some things from which you should declare yourself independent:

1) Independence from checking various GPA/LSAT score calculators, reports of admitted students, crystal balls, tea leaves, and anything else you have been studying in an attempt to divine which law schools you might be able to get into. Yes, we know it’s tempting. No, it’s not a particularly productive use of time. So make this weekend stress-free and stay as far away as you can.

2) Independence from studying for a retake. Don’t get us wrong, you don’t want to take too much time off from studying – but studying for the LSAT is a long haul, and it’s good to give yourself time to recharge your batteries every once in a while. This weekend is the perfect excuse to kick back with a beer and a hot dog and celebrate ‘Murica. (And when you are ready to start studying again, you can find some tips for retaking the LSAT here.)

3) Independence from guilt. When you were studying for the LSAT, you may have felt a little guilty every time you spent large chunks of time doing something other than studying. Guess what? Not only can you spend days not studying now, you’re actually encouraged to do so! (See point #2 above). So if that little voice in the back of your head starts saying, “Shouldn’t you be doing something productive right now?”, tell it to shut up.

So, in addition to spending this weekend celebrating a victory in some little war a couple hundred years ago, celebrate yourself a little too. Trust us, you’ve earned it.
