Avni was an incredible MCAT tutor. She genuinely cares about your success and is fully invested in helping you improve. She's extremely knowledgable and observant and pinpoints exactly where your gaps are, whether it's content, application, or strategy and then tailors her teaching to fix that specifically. She also adapts to how you learn best and explains things super clearly. Topics that I felt I struggled with for a long time would click after one session with her. She's also flexible and has great energy; she has the perfect balance of being structured and pushing you, while still being encouraging and supportive. She's also very strategic about maximizing your score, not just teaching material. Highly, highly, highly recommend!

I could not recommend Trevor enough! He is charismatic, smart, personable, and supportive: all traits that a student looks for in a good tutor. I had him first in class, and then looked to him for individual support in my studies. He has helped me gain confidence in my skills and the test, supporting my decisions and reading my emotions. He is very patient and never hesitates to explain a concept that I don't understand, and never makes me feel small for my mistakes, even if I feel that way. He's really the Tiger Woods of Blueprint. 11/10

I had a really great experience with the Blueprint Live Online MCAT course. The structure of the course kept me on track, and the materials were super helpful for breaking down difficult concepts into something manageable. It made studying feel a lot less overwhelming. Avery and Priyal were especially amazing instructors. They explained things clearly, were always engaging, and made the sessions feel interactive rather than just passive lectures. You can tell they genuinely care about helping students succeed, and they were always willing to answer questions and give extra support when needed. Overall, I would definitely recommend this course to anyone preparing for the MCAT—it gave me both the content knowledge and confidence I needed going into my exam!

Micaela and Mason were the best instructors I have ever had. From day 1 they were the most encouraging and supportive. Even when I was doing poorly they were there to send me encouraging feedback and advice and really helped me improve my mental ability to push through studying. I wouldve been absolutely lost without these two and they taught me so much more than I could've ever done on my own. The class environment was fun and encouraging and I wasn't too hard on myself when I confidently got something wrong.

The classes are kind of long in my opinion but it is understandable as the mcat is a beast. I think 2 hours as opposed to 2 and a half hours might be better. As far as the class itself, the material we go through is very important and the constant practice of CARS that is done throughout the class has raised my CARS score significantly without even doing much CARS practice outside of class. Micaela and Mason I am sure are the absolutely best instructors that blueprint has to offer. After having some substitutes, that don’t get me wrong were great, I can without a doubt say that Micaela and mason were my absolute favorite and best.

Micaela and Mason were a fantastic pairing and were incredibly knowledgeable. They both were positive and felt accessible and truly cared about our success. Guest lectures were also positive but did not make me feel as reassured as Micaela and Mason who also balanced that with getting content out. At times, it felt we moved a bit slower when we could have done more explanation/questions (similar to other lecture days). All in all they are by far some of, if not the best instructors we interacted with during our time in the course. They had such a rhythm together and Micaela's high energy paired with Mason's relaxed feel and both were incredible genuine, and just seem like good people in addition to knowing their stuff.

While the course itself may not have always been enjoyable, my instructors made the process less daunting and digestible. Their cheerful attitudes were also very helpful in making me not feel alone in the process. My 515+ course was more accelerated with 3 classes a week, so it was quite stressful, but all in all, I do feel that I saw the content at least once before my exam. I also appreciate the weekly emails that Micaela sent out, and also how responsive she was via email.

Choosing the best MCAT prep course is vital to your success. Consider your own learning style, how long you have to prep, and your overall goals. The most important thing to look for when deciding on an MCAT prep course is how representative it is. The official AAMC practice exams are a cornerstone of any effective MCAT study plan, as simulating the real test environment is key to achieving your best performance. However, you will need to supplement your MCAT prep with other resources to get enough practice to reach your target score.
As the leader in representative MCAT prep, Blueprint MCAT (formerly Next Step) regularly updates our prep materials and interface to ensure our students do their best and use the most representative MCAT practice resources. Whether you need the complete flexibility of the Blueprint MCAT Self-Paced Course, the interaction and instruction of Blueprint Live and 515+ courses, or the one-on-one attention of a private MCAT tutor, Blueprint students see life-changing results. Ultimately, choosing the best MCAT prep course for you comes down to your personal learning style and preference, but we know you’ll find the right course with Blueprint MCAT.
When should I start studying for the MCAT?
The AAMC recommends students dedicate about 300 hours to MCAT test prep. However, if you're aiming for a top score, you may need to spend as much as 500 hours prepping. Typically, MCAT prep is spread out over 3-6 months. Once you have a test date in mind, evaluate your schedule to realistically gauge the time you can commit to your MCAT prep. Whether it’s on your own, with an online MCAT course, in a class, or with a personal tutor, make sure your MCAT test prep isn’t rushed.
How should I start studying for the MCAT?
If you’re here, you’re already taking the right first step! To get started on your MCAT prep, take a diagnostic practice test. This initial test will help you identify your baseline score, highlight what you already know, and set the stage for a more focused and effective study plan.
Then, create a free study schedule using our customizable online MCAT study planner. Your study plan will organize all your MCAT practice, including content review, practice tests, practice question sets, and reviews.
Remember, everyone’s study schedule will look different. What works best for one student may not work for another. Find what works best for you and stick to it. Consistency is key when it comes to successful MCAT test prep.
Are MCAT prep courses worth it?
It depends on your individual learning style and study habits. Some students benefit from the structure and guidance of a prep course, while others prefer to self-study using a blend of resources. However, research shows that a 15-point score increase can nearly quadruple your acceptance rate. This means investing in a quality MCAT prep course can ultimately pay off in a higher score and increased chances of acceptance into your dream medical school.
Remember that studying for the MCAT is not just about content review. It also requires learning strategies and test-taking techniques that can help maximize your performance on exam day. A good MCAT prep course will not only provide you with comprehensive content review, but also teach you how to approach MCAT questions and manage your time effectively.
When and where can I take the MCAT?
The MCAT is offered about 30 times per year between January and September, allowing you to select a test date and test center location that fits your schedule. Although the MCAT is taken on a computer, you must take it at a designated test center. MCAT exam scores are typically released approximately one month after the exam is taken.
What is the MCAT?
The Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) is a standardized exam that plays a crucial role in the admissions process for nearly every medical school in the U.S. and Canada. Administered by the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), the MCAT evaluates essential skills needed for success in medical school. These include problem-solving, critical thinking, and a solid understanding of natural, behavioral, and social science concepts and principles. Effective MCAT prep requires a balanced blend of thorough content review, practical application, and consistent practice. A strong MCAT score is a key component of your medical school application.
What is on the MCAT?
The MCAT is seven-and-a-half hours long, making it one of the most rigorous standardized tests out there. It consists of four sections:
Biological and Biochemical Foundations of Living Systems
Chemical and Physical Foundations of Biological Systems
Psychological, Social, and Biological Foundations of Behavior
Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills
Each section is designed to test different aspects of your knowledge and reasoning skills, ensuring you are well-prepared for the challenges of medical school.

*Blueprint Self-Paced Course students had an average increase of 15 points from their first Blueprint Exam to their best score on either a Blueprint Full Length Exam or self-reported score on an AAMC Practice Exam. The population of 596 students included all students who started their prep in 2022 and completed a minimum of 2,500 questions and 155 modules in the Self-Paced Course. Blueprint Live Course students had an average increase of 15 points from their first Blueprint Diagnostic Exam to their official AAMC MCAT score. The population of 54 students included all students who started their prep between January 7 and October 20, 2021, took the Blueprint Diagnostic first, attended at least 75% of live classes, answered a minimum of 1,500 questions, and provided their official score. To preserve the integrity of the study, one student was excluded for being an anomalous three-sigma outlier. The Live course score increase calculations were verified by the accounting firm of Weaver & Tidwell L.L.P.
