Sarah has been a clinical nurse specialist in community health, focusing on older adult patients for most of her career. She also has worked in acute care and care management. She has a passion for teaching students and finds great pleasure in seeing her students succeed. Sarah has developed many nurse courses and has taught nurses at the BSN, MSN, and DNP levels at several different universities. She recently participated in dementia training and loves to teach caregivers and staff members tactics to provide patient-centered care to assist the person with dementia in feeling at ease. She loves to write and publish articles regarding topics such as care management and dementia care. When not involved with all things nursing, she plays board games and hikes with her husband and two children in Colorado. Her claim to fame was thru hiking the Pacific Crest Trail with her husband right before she went to nursing school. Now she sleeps in her teardrop camper most of the summer months to get a good night's sleep before hiking the next day.
