Daniel’s passion for teaching began when he was a summer camp counselor, teaching a diverse range of topics including ecology, rock climbing, archery, acting, and horseback riding. He also taught campers how to make a loud whistle by tightly holding a blade of grass between their first metacarpals and their first distal phalanges, which he later thoroughly regretted. Daniel enjoyed the diversity of students, topics, and experiences that this job afforded him. What once started as a particular knack for teaching campers has since blossomed into a passion for teaching academically. As a Chemistry tutor, Daniel emphasized exploring the class material with a focus on understanding particulars within the big picture and enjoying the challenge of solving the puzzles of equations and skeletal formulas. As a USMLE Step 1 tutor, Daniel additionally focuses on the comparisons and connections between diverse and superficially distinct topics in order to integrate into the whole of the scientific body of knowledge. Daniel also emphasizes the importance of visual and experiential learning and will be sure to bring many interesting images and examples into tutoring sessions!
Students can expect to develop their study and test-taking techniques and strategies, subdue test-taking anxiety, improve healthy habit formation, practice wellbeing, mindfulness, nutrition, and exercise, and, of course, explore the wonderful world of medicine! He is personally invested in a tutee’s success academically, which needs to be built on a strong foundation. He hopes that you both can be accountable to each other in describing and then achieving our academic goals.

You say ‘I’m gonna lay this brick as perfectly as a brick can be laid,’ and you do that every single day, and soon you have a wall.” – Will Smith
David’s tutoring success can be attributed to his ability to break down complex medical topics into digestible pieces. When approaching questions, he believes in a systematic approach to answering each question. These systems lead to a decreased likelihood of making “silly mistakes” on test day. David enjoys helping his students create connections and mental frameworks between the large volume of medical knowledge necessary for Step 1.

Whether you have 4 weeks or 4 months to prepare, Camden will craft a comprehensive strategy about how to approach your studies that is tailored to building your strengths and remedying your weaknesses. Most importantly, Camden believes that an oft-overlooked part of any study schedule is work-life balance: elite athletes take ‘rest days’ to maximize their long-term performance, medical students should as well! You can count on any schedule Camden makes to incorporate (at least a little) time to still live life during your studies. Camden will push you to work hard but to also enjoy the journey, and he is here as a mentor, tutor, and friend throughout the process.

She loves to see the look in a student's eye when they *finally* begin to understand a difficult concept, and hearing all of her students' success stories as they triumph over their exams. She has a knack for breaking down complicated topics into the simplest of terms, and after working through multiple choice questions with her, you will become an expert at deciphering any clinical vignette you come across on Test Day. You can rely on Shelby to help you create a killer study schedule tailored to your specific goals, a strategic and organized plan of attack for your studies and for test day (quite possibly including a Test Day Pump Up Jams playlist), accountability and honest feedback, and a collaborative teaching style that puts you in charge of your own success.
