In medical school Jake struggled with the overwhelming degree of detail he encountered in his med school lectures, he found that emphasizing succinct 3rd party resources and avoiding getting lost in the weeds was his ticket to success. “High yield” is Jake’s mantra and he specializes in creating plans that focus on areas of the exam that will produce large score improvements for his clients. Jake is firm in his expectations, but is also quick to provide praise when students work hard and stick to the plan...total Professor McGonnagal vibes. Throughout this process, you’ll be sure to appreciate his energy, focus, and his enthusiasm for beating test writers at their own game. Jake is a fantastic test-prep ally and can’t wait to help you succeed!

As your tutor, Camden will show you how to break down questions and get to the root of what the exam-makers are asking (you can beat them at their own game!). Whether you have 4 weeks or 4 months to prepare, Camden will craft a comprehensive strategy about how to approach your studies that is tailored to building your strengths and remedying your weaknesses. Most importantly, Camden believes that an oft-overlooked part of any study schedule is work-life balance: elite athletes take ‘rest days’ to maximize their long-term performance, medical students should as well! You can count on any schedule Camden makes to incorporate (at least a little) time to still live life during your studies. Camden will push you to work hard but to also enjoy the journey, and he is here as a mentor, tutor, and friend throughout the process.

Maimonides Medical Center NY, Emergency MedicineAs a USMLE tutor, Chris has perfected a routine for students to follow, carefully balancing a healthy lifestyle to avoid burnout, while hammering on high yield concepts for Step 1. Chris prefers to interactively approach questions on UWorld and NBME practice exams and will cover all topics in a Socratic teaching style. By asking students what they already know, he can get a better sense of what they need to focus on. He prefers to have students learn from a fundamental level, as opposed to having them strictly memorize "buzzwords" that can easily bog someone down. He collaborates with students to help achieve not only their academic goals for exams but also their personal and professional goals within medicine.

TBAIn her preclinical years, Tegan quickly realized that rote memorization was not her preferred method of learning. She found that this approach allowed her to do well on exams, but realized she was not retaining the concepts as well as she wanted for future exams and boards. Instead, she spent a little extra effort learning the pathways and pathophysiology behind conditions, allowing her to think through problems and vignettes rather than relying on memorization. In tutoring sessions, Tegan helps her students formulate goals, stick to study plans, and connect and solidify concepts not only for exam day, but also for when they start seeing real patients! She may also be accompanied by her trusty teaching assistant, her cuddly cat.

He works with students to first determine their objectives and study strategies and tailors his teaching and plan to best fit the student’s learning style for success with exams in the future. By working with students to celebrate their strengths and identify areas for improvement, he creates individualized teaching sessions and focuses on high-yield concepts while creating effective plans to assist any student of his to reach their goal.

TBAA long-standing passion for teaching and mentorship has shaped Avni’s journey through medicine. As a medical student at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, she has pursued extensive training in medical education, completing electives focused on teaching foundational science and physical diagnosis. Through these experiences, she has worked closely with course directors to support preclinical instruction, provided one-on-one and group tutoring, led small-group sessions, and taught physical exam skills to first- and second-year students. She has developed expertise in adult learning theory, small-group facilitation, feedback delivery, curriculum development, and educational assessment—all under the guidance of experienced faculty educators. She has also contributed to large-scale curriculum reform efforts at UPSOM and reviewed assessments to ensure alignment with course content and standardized board exams.
For Avni, tutoring is more than just a two-hour session—it’s a meaningful, long-term relationship built on mutual growth and trust. She finds the most rewarding moments in seeing students gain confidence, identify strategies that work for them, and achieve tangible progress in their scores.
Avni is currently a fourth-year medical student and will be applying to obstetrics and gynecology residency programs this fall. She hopes to build a career that combines clinical practice with a continued commitment to teaching and mentoring the next generation of medical trainees. In her spare time, she loves exploring new coffee shops, is a movie and TV show fanatic, and enjoys going on walks with friends!
